A study on a local and an international house is done during the semester break. Fanghui, James, Joel and me form a group for this case study. The house that we study for is vanna venturi house (architect- Robert Venturi) and louvrebox house (Kevin Mark Low).
For Vanna Venturi house, the main problem that we face is lack of information. This house is build in 1964, one of the first prominent works of the postmodern architecture movement, and it is located in the neighborhood of Chestnut Hill in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
On the other hand, Louvrebox house, a three storey bangalow located in Malaysia, was builton the narrowest lot of a gatedcommunity, a louvred box ofeighty feet and sixteen widelifted off an open ground floor‘room’ created by its boundarywalls and a seven foot widelap pool along the garden sideleft over on the south edge.
Through this case study, we learned the difference of house in tempered climate and tropical area as well as the difference of post modernism building with modern building. Moreover, the details learned can be helpful in our next project-- dwelling.
